That's why Subaru and our retailers partner with the Arbor Day Foundation (TM) to provide and distribute 100,000 regionally appropriate trees across the country. We're proud to establish the largest corporate tree distribution ever. Through this and other Subaru Loves the Earth initiatives, Subaru and our retailers have helped distribute and plant over 1.1 million trees.

Subaru believes we should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. That's why for the past 10 years, Subaru and its retailers like us have partnered with Blood Cancer United® and our local hospital or cancer treatment center to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by our staff and customers to support patients facing cancer. Through our efforts during this decade-long partnership, we've supported nearly 500,000 cancer patients nationwide. Together, we are proud to be Blood Cancer United's largest automotive donor.
Subaru and its retailers, like us, are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning(R) by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are needed to help students thrive in the classroom.

That's why retailers like us partner with our local animal welfare organization every October to provide direct financial assistance through a grant distributed by the ASPCA® and host pet events to help animals find loving homes. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, Subaru has donated over $70 million, supporting the rescue, adoption, and health of over 700,000 animals. We're proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.

That's why for every new vehicle sold or leased during the Subaru Share the Love event, Subaru and its retailers, like us, makes a donation to national charities that our owners care about and to over 2,700 local charities where Subaru owners live and work.

Food Bank of Central New York was honored to be chosen by Romano Subaru as a 2024 Share the Love partner – a partnership rooted in compassion and community! Their support helped the Food Bank carry forward the Subaru Love Promise—showing love and respect to our community while working to make a meaningful impact. In early 2025, the Food Bank received a generous check totaling $22,702.50. Due to this generous donation, the Food Bank was able to acquire and distribute enough food for 68,207 meals. With 1 in 7 people in our 11-county service area facing food insecurity, the Food bank was able to Share the Love by providing nutritious food such as fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, proteins, and pantry staples to those facing empty cupboards. Through Romano Subaru and the Share the Love program a child didn’t go to bed with an empty stomach, a parent was able to provide a healthy meal for their family, and a senior didn’t have to make the tough decision between purchasing food or purchasing their life-saving medication. We are proud to stand alongside the Romano family, their employees, and everyone at Subaru to Share the Love in Central New York, Northern New York, and the Mohawk Valley. Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Syracuse, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Romano Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Romano Subaru have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 01/13/2025, Romano Subaru donated 204 coats to Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse, NY. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.
We Found Our Community! - Hope T.
We moved from Long Island, NY one year ago this month. We never came across an organization that had anything like David’s Refuge, an organization that helps caregivers with being able to refocus and get back to caring for themselves because let’s be honest, we have done a lot of blaming, and beating ourselves up over the years. We have always felt so alone, going to parties, events, our experience has always been different then our friends/ families. As much as they try to understand, and offer us ideas, it has always been our families journey alone to work and go through. No one can truly understand what we go through unless they too have been through it. Since we moved here, we have been able to connect with David’s Refuge. We found out about it through our son's care manager. When we first heard about it, we thought to ourselves this is too good to be true. So, we put it in the back of our minds and got back to life. We started receiving emails for events and things we could attend throughout the year, including wellness events, Christmas event for the kids to meet Santa, Syracuse crunch game night for dads, counseling sessions (I took when I was severely depressed and struggling), and of course our most recent couples respite weekend which was the first time ever since our son Logan was diagnosed with Autism when he was 2 years old (he’s going to be 10 in August) that we have been able to go together alone. We usually tackle our events separately. Logan's dad, Luis, will go do his events or nights out or I will do mine while one of us stays to care for Logan. This trip was amazing and meant everything to us. We were able to reconnect, restore, rejuvenate, and meet other new wonderful couples who also got us and our journey. We have been told so many things over the years. Things that could potentially help our son, and though everyone has great intentions and means well, it’s always stuff that has either been tried/done or just not really something that could be done for our son. I once had someone tell me to just ease up at birthday parties and let Logan be, let him wander and be a kid. Though this person meant well. I could never just let him wander at birthday parties and be alone. He needs constant supervision. My point of this story is that they got it, everyone, our hosts, the couples at the David’s Refuge respite understood without having to constantly explain, why my son does this or why he’s doing that. It can be exhausting to constantly explain. So, thank you to all your wonderful donations and to Romano Subaru, who has sponsored David’s Refuge over the years. To be able to send couples on respite has really been a godsend, as it meant the world to us and our family. Thank you for everything.
Deepening Dignity - Hospice Thanks Romano Subaru - Devorah W.
Hospice of Central New York and the Finger Lakes would like to thank Romano Subaru for their contribution to Hospice this holiday season. Hospice is our community's expert in end-of-life care. We take an approach with our patients and their families that we like to call our "circle of care". This circle surrounds the patient and the family with support from: Hospice physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, grief support, and family caregivers. It is our belief that those dealing with a life-limiting illness or a terminal diagnosis are able to choose a death with dignity surrounded by their friends, family and loved ones should they choose. This year, our Hospice served over 1,300 patients and their families, and we expect to well exceed that number in 2024. Hospice never turns an individual away should they not have funds to afford card. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the support of our community to continue our work and sustain our efforts. We thank Romano Subaru for their generous support of our mission and know that with their help, our patients and families will continue to have access to the care they deserve and need.
Helping Spot the rescued pig - Ellen B.
Spot the pig came to The Haven at Skanda 3 years ago after having been rescued from starvation. She was so thin we could see her spine, and she and her friends were anxious about food, fighting each other at mealtimes. It took several weeks of receiving plentiful healthy food and lots of attention and care for Spot to relax and know she was safe at Skanda. After that, life became a joy, with lots of outdoor play time and snuggling with her friends at night. Recently, Spot developed neurological issues that make it hard for her to walk on her back legs. When Skanda takes in a large farm animal like Spot, it makes a lifelong commitment to her care, knowing she is unlikely to be adopted. We cannot anticipate what Spot will need as she ages, and it can get expensive. Thanks to the grant from Romano Subaru, The Haven at Skanda is able to give Spot the lifelong care she needs – which includes 15 pills daily to manage her condition -- so that she can stay comfortable and healthy throughout her life span.
Freedom Rides - Kathy G.
As shelters and rescues struggle with the slow pace of adoptions and chronic lack of space, Helping Hounds was asked to help dogs and puppies that are being discarded from Amish commercial breeding programs. Rip was one of 36 dogs released into our care. Romano Subaru has not only supported our rescue efforts, they have assisted many of our employees in purchasing a Subaru for their personal cars and these are the cars we use to give these dogs their freedom ride into a whole new life. Rip traded in his isolated and lonely life for one with a family that will take him on adventures exploring nearby trails. He has a fenced yard to play in with his dog siblings and grandparents nearby for spoiling.
RISE WELCOMES AFGHAN REFUGEES TO CNY - Frances H.
Refugee & Immigrant Self-Empowerment (RISE) has recently been working to resettle Afghan refugees as a local community partner of the Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC), a national refugee resettlement agency. ECDC receives funding directly from the Department of State to implement the Afghan Placement and Assistance (APA) program, which provides initial resettlement services such as housing, employment assistance, school enrollment, legal services, and cultural adjustment to Afghans admitted into the United States on humanitarian parole. “RISE is honored to support these New Americans. As a former refugee myself, arriving to a new country has many challenges and without support services, individuals and families struggle to navigate in a new land. RISE will provide the guidance and programs needed to integrate them into the Central New York Community.” Said Haji Adan, RISE Executive Director. RISE expects to receive up to 50 individuals for resettlement in Syracuse. RISE staff, with support from community stakeholders, will be responsible to see that these essential services are provided within 90 days of arriving in our local community. We want to express our sincerest thanks to the Romano Auto Dealerships, Romano Subaru and their Holiday Hope Project for their grant of $2,500. These funds will ensure that the Afghan refugees will have the resources they need to be self-sufficient and thriving community members. We were delighted to meet Mr. Borzou Razmjou, General Manager of Romano Subaru in Syracuse. Mr. Razmjou is an immigrant to the United States. We shared some great stories about the needs of refugees and immigrants in Central New York, and how their funds will positively impact our programs and services. Jett was a dime-a-dozen stray black dog in Texas who had little chance of finding his way out of an overburdened shelter system. He was young, handsome and full of youthful Labrador retriever energy. His manners were lacking, but his heart was pure gold. He found his way into our Underdog Express transport program and headed north to find his home, his place in the world. It didn't take him long to win the hearts of a family who brought him home for a trial adoption to make sure their home would be to his liking. In many ways he was all they hoped for, but the quickly notices a pronounced limp especially after a busy day of exploring and playing. X-rays revealed the worse case of elbow dysplasia ever seen in a young dog and the journey to determine how best to help him began. Sadly, after several weeks of appointments with specialists and trying to manage his energy and activity, his potential new family decided they were not the best fit for him and he came back to us. We continued seeking advice from specialists and continued incurring medical bills for CT scans, more X-rays and consultations. Amputation of the leg was was recommended by one surgeon; repairing the elbow was recommended by another. We chose the latter and hoped repairing the elbow would give him years of a pain-free life while we continued the search for the family that would see him through his recovery. After multiple vet visits, thousands of dollars in medical bills and 3 months of waiting, he left us to begin his new life. Being supported by Subaru Loves Pets allows us to help dogs like Jett Black who need a bit more than most.
Romano Subaru Shares the Love-Upstate Foundation - Danielle L.
From November through January, the folks at Romano Subaru showed up BIG for our families! Through their Share the Love campaign, the team raised over $31,000 to support local kids & their families right here in Central New York! We were blown away by their success, their kindness, & their dedication to their local community. Thanks to the hard work of Romano Subaru, the funds raised will help support programs & amenities at our new Golisano Center for Special Needs. This critical center for Central New York focuses on children & adolescents with intellectual & developmental disabilities. One in 54 children are diagnosed with autism, but it can be difficult for families to receive timely intervention & services, with a shortage of qualified professionals & space. This new center helps to eliminate that wait time, which was previously up to two years, & will help to train & mentor professionals in this field to meet the growing need for this population. This gift will make an enormous difference for years to come! Thank you Romano Subaru for being there for the kids, from all of us at the Upstate Foundation!
Catholic Charities - Men's Shelter - Gracie B.
Thank you to our friends at Romano Subaru for their generosity! This season, Romano Subaru was able to donate 80 blankets to the guests of our Men’s Shelter. Our Men’s Shelter operates 24/7, 365 days a year and can host 99 men struggling with homelessness every night. Many of our guests are some of the most vulnerable members of our community, medically compromised, and in the most need. The delivery of blankets occurred on December 10th and as we head into colder weather, we are deeply grateful for this thoughtful donation. Thank you for providing the gift of warmth to so many. As we continue to navigate the pandemic, our dedicated shelter staff are devoted to our mission and the people we serve, particularly during uncertain times.
